Strike threat from offshore caterers

There's a new threat of walkouts in the North Sea - and this time it's caterers who could take industrial action.

The oil and gas industry has been hit hard by the recent downturn, sparked by the fall in the price of oil.

Thousands have already been made redundant.

But union leaders fear bosses are using it as an excuse to exploit the workforce.

Offshore contractors are already being balloted for industrial action.

Now a new row's broken out over caterers on the rigs.

A planned 2% pay rise this year has been cancelled.

The UNITE union says if bosses don't come to the negotiating table in the next fortnight, they'll start asking their members if they want to go on strike.
