Storm disruption continues as several rail lines closed

Multiple rail lines are closed this morning after Storm Isha caused "extraordinary" damage to the railways.

Scotrail say certain routes are still shut pending safety checks

East Kilbirde, Helensburgh, Wick, Kilmarnock, Gourock and Wemyss Bay are among the places with no services this morning.

ScotRail have also outlined how no trains will leave after 7pm tonight, as another weather warning comes into force at 6pm.

A statement on X (formerly Twitter) said: "All services will be suspended from 19.00 tonight and there'll be no rush hour services on Wednesday morning, as the extreme weather from Storm Jocelyn arrives.

"Any trains departing prior to 19.00 will complete their journey, but no services will run after that time.

"Tickets for travel dated 20 - 26 January can now be used any day this week, up to and including Friday, 26 January."

Avanti West Coast has called on passengers not to travel north of Preston after 3.30pm on Tuesday because of Storm Jocelyn.

The last scheduled service from London to Glasgow departs the capital at 3.30pm, calling at Preston at 5.41pm, and is "expected to be extremely busy", the operator warned.

The last trains of the day from Glasgow and Edinburgh will depart before 5pm. Services to and from Scotland are expected to be suspended until at least noon on Wednesday.

Passengers with tickets for travel north of Preston on Tuesday and Wednesday can use them at any time until the end of Thursday.

Those who cannot complete their journey due to the disruption can request a full refund from where they bought their ticket.

Strong winds battered Scotland on Sunday night and the country's preparing itself for further bad weather as Storm Jocelyn is expected later.

Storm Isha left two people dead, including one in Grangemouth, and one seriously injured.

An amber weather warning for wind covering parts of the West Coast, Far North and North East comes into force at 6pm tonight.

Separate yellow alerts for rain, and wind will also be in place for other parts of Scotland.
