12 months on from running 80 miles, Steven Mackay is taking on another huge challenge.

The Brora Rangers manager will set off from Wick a week today, aiming to finish in Inverness 24 hours later.

The distance is the equivalent to running four marathons, and he's doing it with no sleep.

Last year, he ran from Inverness to Brora and managed to fundraise more than ÂŁ17,000 for MFR's Cash for Kids.

This time round, he's wanting to raise ÂŁ20,000 for the charity

Steven says he's hoping by increasing the distance, people will be willing to support him again.

He said: "We’ve set quite an aggressive target of £20,000, which is a huge amount of money.

"I felt in order to ask people to donate once again I need to make the challenge further than the previous one in terms of mileage.

"We decided to increase it up to over 100 miles and make it 104, which we can break into four stages, which is four marathons.

"Wick to Inverness is bang on 104 miles so that’s what the challenge is and hopefully because of the distance and how tough this challenge is, people will be willing to support me with donations which we can pass onto Cash for Kids."

"I’ll never be so happy to see Bught Park"

Steven also explained how he thinks he'll be feeling after running four marathons back to back and why he's supporting Cash for Kids.

He added: "I imagine the feeling will be equally as emotional, the biggest feeling that will come over me will be absolute relief.

"I’ll never be so happy to see Bught Park, so really looking forward to that point.

"I’m a father myself. I’ve got two young boys, Dylan at 12 and Mason at 7.

"I just hate the thought of children in our area struggling whether its for food, clothing, toys etc.

"I heard an ad on the radio about four or five years ago and it hit me quite hard so I just thought there must be something I can do to support the charity.

"It was only really small initially, donations of clothing and toys. Then with the event last year we had a slightly bigger contribution.

"It’s a charity that’s obviously local and the fact that it supports children in our area is why I’m very keen to support them and continue supporting them."
