The Dailuaine barley dark grains plant is to close next year.

Drinks Giant Diageo says it'll be working with a specialist in turning whisky by-products into cattle feed from 2018.

But there's a promise the 22 staff there will be offered a move to other Speyside sites.

A spokesperson for Diageo said:

“As part of a recent review of coproduct activities carried out at our distilling operations we have announced that we will now partner with a specialist supplier to manage our coproduct flows into the animal feeds and bioenergy sectors. This will result in the closure of our Speyside Dark Grains Plant in early 2018."
