Shock At Fatal Highland House Fire

It's understood the widow of former Lord Lieutenant, Sir Allan Gilmour, has died in a blaze at Invernauld House, Rosehall.

MFR News understands a house fire has claimed the life of the widow of a former Lord Lieutenant.

93 year old Lady Jean Gilmour - wife of Sir Allan Gilmour - is believed to have died in the blaze at Invernauld House, Rosehall on Saturday.

A 62 year old woman - thought to be her carer - remains in hospital with burns.

A joint police and fire investigation has been launched to find out the cause of the blaze.

Dave Goulder, who lives nearby, said: "She was a true character; anything at the school or community hall, she would be there.

"She got around in a wheelchair with her carer, but always had a flock of people around her.

"I was out walking on the day it happened and saw the activity, half a mile west of Invernauld House.

"It puzzled me then, but I was devestated when I heard the news the following morning.

"I've got so many memories of going up there, good ones, but I would rather not go up there now.

"It would be far to painful at the moment."

A police spokesperson said: "A 62 year old woman suffered injuries to her hand and face as a result of the fire and was treated at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"The fire has been extinguished and Police Scotland continues to work closely with Scottish Fire and Rescue at the scene to investigate the full circumstances of the incident."
