Edinburgh's Shannon Archer wins historic bronze at Commonwealth games

Shannon Archer has won Team Scotland’s first gymnastics medal of Birmingham 2022 in the women’s vault.

Archer, from Edinburgh, has become the first Scottish woman to win an artistic gymnastics medal at a Commonwealth Games.

She claimed a brilliant bronze in the vault in Birmingham.

Australia's Georgia Godwin claimed gold, ahead of Canada's Laurie Denommee.

"She produced a wonderful performance in the vault final and this medal is thoroughly deserved. A medal at this level of sport is a hugely significant achievement and is testament to the dedication and determination shown in preparing for the Games.”
