"Several" coronavirus cases have been linked to Portsoy School and Nursery.

The P3 class have been asked to self isolate, with the nursery having to close due to staff shortages.

We currently understand this will not impact the return of P4-P7's on Monday.

An Aberdeenshire Council spokesperson said: "We have been advised by the NHS Grampian Health Protection Team that there have been several detected cases of Covid-19 linked to Portsoy School and Nursery.

"The nursery has had to close due to staff shortages and the P3 group has been asked to self-isolate.

The school has written to parents and carers to advise them of the closure and to inform them of alternative childcare arrangements that are available to them.

"The school remains open.

"All of our schools are already subject to enhanced cleaning measures and we continue to work closely with our colleagues in Public Health."

An NHS Grampian spokesperson said: "We're aware of the reported cases and the Health Protection/Public Health team is working closely with the school."
