Serving Police officer arrested in Dumfries sex assault investigation

A serving police officer’s been arrested in connection with reports of a serious sexual assault in Dumfries.

Police Scotland says the man has been suspended from duty while investigations are carried out.

It comes after St Mary’s Street was sealed off last Thursday morning after an incident involving a 24-year-old woman.

The 39-year-old man arrested last week and released while investigations continue.
