A pedestrian's believed to have died after being been knocked down by a recycling lorry in Inverness city centre.

The lorry hit the pedestrian on Bridge Street at around 7.30am.

The road remains closed as Police continue their investigations - and Bank Street, Castle Wynd and Church Street have also been sealed off.

A Hogmanay event which was due to take place on High Street this afternoon, between 12noon-2pm, has been cancelled as officers continue with their enquiries.

We are still waiting for an update of the condition of the lorry driver. Local diversions have been put in place.
