Searches to resume for missing man in the Cairngorms

Searches will continue on Saturday and Sunday (March 19th and 20th) for Jim Robertson who has been missing in the Cairngorms since Wednesday, March 2nd.

Mountain rescue teams will be based in the area of Derry Lodge on the Mar Lodge Estate and will carry out further searches.

Police also hope walkers using the come forward if they have information which may be able to assist with the search.

Jim, 61, who is from the Glasgow area, is thought to have stayed in the Bob Scott Bothy close to Derry Lodge on the Mar Lodge Estate.

Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone who was in the Derry Lodge area which is around eight miles from Braemar, between March 1st and 2nd.

Inspector Matt Smith, Police Mountain Rescue Team Leader, said: "Vast areas of the Cairngorms have been searched and we remain indebted to the commitment shown by the volunteers from Braemar, Aberdeen and Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Teams as well as the Search and Rescue Dogs Association and air support from the Coastguard"

"However despite this effort Jim is still missing and we are still encouraging hill goers to contact us if they have any information which could assist with the search"
