RAF Sea King rescue helicopter 137 was involved in the search for Kyle Knox in its last task before it handed over to a civilian contractor today.
Mr Knox, 23, from London, was reported missing yesterday afternoon after after failing to return to his hotel in Fort William.
He was last seen at about 10am on Monday at the start of the route up Ben Nevis.
Searches of the area were carried out last night but found no trace of him.
Lochaber mountain rescue team (LMRT), Glencoe mountain rescue team and the RAF mountain rescue team were involved in the search today, according to the LMRT Facebook page.
The RAF said the Sea King was involved in the search until 8am when the crew handed over to a civilian Bristow helicopter.
Mr Knox is described as 5ft 10in, slim and with dark hair.
He was wearing dark waterproof trousers, walking boots and a jacket with red flashes on it.
Bristow Helicopters was awarded the 10-year UK Search And Rescue contract by the Department for Transport in March 2013 and delivers the service on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) from 10 bases around the UK.
