Scottish Government dismiss appeal for ICT linked battery farm plan
Those behind the Fairways project appealed Highland Council's decision to reject it.
The Scottish Government has dismissed an appeal for a battery storage scheme which was set to benefit Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
A proposal for the project near Fairways Business Park would've meant a windfall of £3.4m for the club, which is currently in administration.
It was initially approved by members of Highland Council's South Planning Applications Committee, but the plans were rejected by the full council after a notice of amendment was lodged.
An appeal was then lodged by developer Intelligent Land Investments to the Scottish Government, but that has now been rejected.
"No material considerations which would still justify granting planning permission."
Rosie Leven, a reporter appointed by Scottish Government Ministers, outlined multiple concerns including loss of greenspace and the visual impact){:target=_blank}.
In her conclusion, she said: "The proposed development does not accord overall with the relevant provisions of the development plan and there are no material considerations which would still justify granting planning permission.
"I have considered all the other matters raised, but there are none which would lead me to alter my conclusions."
A group representing Slackbuie, Inshes & Milton of Leys, Lochardil & Drummond and Holm Community Councils previously expressed their objection to the proposals.
Following today's decision, a Highland Council spokesperson said: "The Council notes the decision by Scottish Government on the appeal."
Inverness Caledonian Thistle have been approached for comment.
