Scots sides braced for shinty internationals

Irish hurling and camogie opponents will face-off against the Scots at Bught Park, Inverness.

This weekend sees the women’s Scotland Shinty v Dublin Camogie International Challenge Match as well as the Shinty men’s Scotland v Ireland international at Bught Park.

Irish referee John Keene will take charge of the men’s game whilst Martin ‘Toad’ MacLean will be the man in the middle for the women’s game.

Kirsty Deans, Scotland Women’s Captain said: ‘Training has been going well, the girls have all been fully committed with a high level of attendance at the Scotland sessions. The tempo and effort everyone has put in has been second to none and we have all be working hard away from training to ensure we are in the best possible shape to go out there and get the win this weekend’

Evan Menzies, of Scotland men’s squad said: ‘I’m very proud to get the call up to the squad this year. I’m looking forward to testing my fitness, it’s good to put yourself up against the calibre of player that the Irish have and see how you compare. Training has been going well and myself and the rest of the squad are ready to test ourselves against anything the Irish can throw at us, I’m confident we will come away with the win’

Gates open Saturday the 20th at 10am with the Scotland women v Dublin women, Shinty v Camogie International Challenge Match at 12pm. The men’s Marine Harvest Shinty v Hurling (Scotland V Ireland) International is at 2pm.
