Dozens of Scots are competing in this years Tokyo Olympics as part of Team GB. MFR is taking a look at when in the coming week the Scottish stars will be competing.
The games are officialy underway after the opening ceremony on Friday 23 July.
Around 1,000 VIP guests and officials attended the event at the Japan National Stadium.
The early sequences referenced the effects of coronavirus, with athletes seen training apart, before the Japanese flag was carried into the arena and a tap dance from a Japanese performer.
Rower Mohamed Sbihi and sailor Hannah Mills led 22 British athletes into the stadium as Team GB's two flagbearers
_IOC president Thomas Bach addressed the assembled athletes, media and dignitaries, saying: "Yes it is very different from what all of us had imagined. But let us cherish this moment because finally we are all here together. This is the unifying power of sport. This is the message of solidarity, of peace and the message of resilience."_
One of the first up of the Scottish athletes is shooter Seonaid Mcintosh, she's competing on Saturday.
The 25-year-old comes from a long line of athletes in the sport, with her mum Shirley and sister Jennifer having a combined 9 Commonwealth Games shooting medals between them.
Edinburgh-born McIntosh, who has battled rheumatoid arthritis since the age of 17, had ambitions to reach the top inspired by her sister competing at London 2012.
She'll be aiming to succeed at the Asaka Shooting Range in Saturday's 10 metre air rifle competition and her stronger 50m rifle three positions event next week.
