Ross County manager Jim McIntyre is on the lookout for a new midfielder following Jackson Irvine's departure.

Burton met the release clause in the Australian's contract to make him their record signing late on Friday.

County won their Betfred Cup opener without the former Celtic player, but only just as Brian Graham's late penalty sealed a 1-0 victory at Montrose.

McIntyre said: "With Jackson Irvine gone now we're one short in the middle of the park so we're looking to fill the space.

"The search won't start now, we've always been looking for good players, but the possibility is there that we'll bring in another midfielder.

"But I'll reiterate that it's got to be the right person, it's got to be somebody that can improve us so there's no need to rush out and panic."
