Ross County v Hibs OFF after positive Covid tests in Hibs squad
The Edinburgh side confirmed they don't have enough players left to fulfil the fixture
The Scottish Premiership clash between Ross County and Hibs at the Global Energy stadium has been postponed, due to coronavirus issues within the Hibs squad.
A statement from the SPFL confirmed the game couldn’t go ahead, with the Edinburgh side not having enough players available to take to the field.
A further statement from Hibs then confirmed two players had tested positive for COVID-19, with the number of close contacts identified making it impossible for the match to go ahead.
It’s not known when the game will be replayed.
The SPFL’s statement read: “This afternoon’s cinch Premiership match between Ross County and Hibernian at the Global Energy Stadium has been postponed.
Hibernian requested that the SPFL postpone the fixture as, due to positive Covid cases and close contacts, they do not have sufficient players available to fulfil the fixture.
An SPFL spokesman said: “After reviewing the information provided by Hibernian, Saturday’s match between Ross County and Hibernian has been postponed and a further update will be provided in due course.”
The Hibs statement read: “Two first team players have tested positive in the latest round of testing this morning. They have been in close contact to a number of other players in the squad that travelled to Dingwall.
We have taken all appropriate precautions including transporting the squad on two coaches, however in-line with SPFL regulations and guidance, we have no other alternative than to postpone the fixture due to the number of players affected making us unable to field a team.
The individuals will not be named due to medical confidentiality and those affected will now self-isolate in-line with the protocol.
The safety of players and staff is absolutely paramount, and after discussions with the SPFL and Ross County, the match will be postponed as we follow Covid-19 regulations.
We will contact supporters who have tickets for the match at Ross County in due course and apologise for any inconvenience caused for those travelling.”
