Richie Foran hoping to hit ground running as Inverness Boss

Richie Foran is keen to ensure his managerial debut at Inverness goes as smoothly as possible when he takes his side to Cowdenbeath on Saturday.

The 36-year-old Irishman has moved from the dressing room to the hot seat following the departure of John Hughes and his first game in charge will be versus the Blue Brazil in the Betfred Cup.

Foran will have new signings Kevin McNaughton and Billy King available but will monitor defender Josh Meekings' knock before he picks his starting XI against the League Two side at Central Park, where he is looking to get his tenure as boss off to a winning start.

He said: ''Of course you want to get a positive start, even in pre-season. I have never played a friendly or a bounce game in my life, everything is serious. You want to win in everything you do and we want to go on a really good cup run as well so this is a huge game for us. We have a lot of respect for Cowdenbeath, they had a good win against Motherwell in pre-season - although it was only pre-season. So we will be going there giving them lots of respect. They have a couple of quality players that can cause us problems as well so our attitude will have to be spot on but we are excited about it. We have scored lots of goals and good goals as well in pre-season, the boys are looking really sharp so we can't wait to get going.''
