Remains identified following Torvean tent discovery

64-year-old James Fernie was a former soldier from the Stirling area.

A body found inside a tent at a quarry out the outskirts of Inverness in September has been identified as a former soldier from the Stirling area.

Police Scotland said James Fernie (64) had served with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.

His remains were found in a secluded area of Torvean Quarry. At the time police said they may have been there for several months or longer.

There are no suspicious circumstances following Mr Fernie's death.
