Raigmore Reopened To Visitors After Norovirus Outbreak
Visitors were barred from the hospital over the weekend as staff worked to contain the virus.
The north's biggest hospital has reopened to visitors after a Norovirus outbreak.
Raigmore Hospital was closed last week as staff worked to contain the vomiting bug.
Wards 7C, 5C, 2C and 3A remain shut to new admissions.
Officials lifted the ban on visitors after reviewing the situation this morning.
Dr Adam Brown, Consultant Microbiologist for NHS Highland, explained that even though four wards remain closed due to norovirus, the rest of the wards are open.
He said: “I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding over the past few days when we restricted all visiting. This was to try, as much as we possibly could, to reduce any more norovirus coming into the hospital.
“While I am pleased that we have been able to reopen to visiting we know norovirus is still rife in the community so would ask that visitors are limited to two per patient and that if you, or anyone you live with, has had symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting you refrain from coming into the hospital until you are clear for 48 hours.”
