Controversial plans for a new harbour in the Cromarty Firth are to be discussed at a public meeting.

Global Energy Group has applied for Scottish Government for permission to establish a new port authority in the waterway.

The company already operates at sites in Nigg and Invergordon.

It says the proposes would boost business and opportunities.

However, opponents fear it would damage access along the water, with the firm taking too much control.

The existing port authority is among the most vocal critics, questioning the need for a 2nd harbour in the area.

The issue will be discussed at a public meeting on Thursday organised by the local community actions group.
