Peaceful demonstrations in Inverness, Golspie, Wick, Ullapool, and Fort William will take place on 27 June 2019.

Parents and some child are meeting outside Highland Council bases to speak out against cuts to Pupil Support Assistants in schools.

Highland Council announced a restructure in the February budget, and last month revealed 63 Additional Support Need roles would be cut, although 50 of them were already empty from a hiring freeze.

Golspie protester Claire Gordon said she has been fighting for the right support for her daughter for five years:

'During that time, although she was a level three/four child, she did not have that support and it was very difficult for her to get any sort of education.

'There wasn't enough provision for the children then, so that is why I feel so strongly that these cuts should not be taking place because there are children who aren't getting what they need already, let alone what will happen when there are less allocated hours to go around.

'They (Highland Council) are going to be selling our children short by doing this. It might save them money in the short term but they are going to be stealing the future of that generation by doing this.'
