A prison transport van has overturned on an Aberdeenshire road while taking a prisoner to court.

The accident closed the A952 in both directions near the junction with the A90, south of Fraserbrurgh.

Head of operations for G4S court escorting, Willie Galloway, said:

“One of our escort vehicles travelling between Fraserburgh police custody unit and Aberdeen Sheriff Court was involved in an incident on the A952 this morning just after 8:30am.

“There were four people in the vehicle, including one prisoner and three G4S colleagues.

“We do not believe that anyone has sustained serious injuries but all four have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precautionary measure.”
