Pride and Highland Games shelved due to coronavirus
Both July events cancelled due to health advice
Highland Council has announced the move to cancel the Inverness Highland Games which were scheduled to take place on Saturday July 18th.
As part of a major weekend of celebration in the Highland Capital, the Local Authority also say that the organisers of Highland Pride have announced their decision to cancel their event which was planned to take place on Sunday July 19th.
The Inverness Highland Games will see the cancellation of the Provosts Cup Football Tournament and Highlands Strongest Man and Strongest Woman Events which are also scheduled for Friday July 17th.
Councillor Graham Ross Chair of the Inverness Events and Festivals Working Group said 'It is extremely regrettable that it has been necessary to cancel the Games weekend due to the current outbreak of COVID-19'
'We shall be monitoring the developing situation closely in the months ahead and we look forward to resuming our city’s events programme when it is safe to do so'
