Power Struggle at Aberdeenshire Council

A battle is underway for control of Aberdeenshire Council.

The SNP claim they now have enough support to form a new administration.

Two councillors linked to the Greens have agreed to support them on a "confidence and supply" basis.

It comes after four councillors quit the administration last week and teamed up with the SNP.

But the current leader of the council, Conservative councillor Jim Gifford, is refusing to step aside.

He says he's been advised by officials that the SNP led coalition don't have the numbers to take over, and he intends to stay at the head of a minority administration unless there are more developments.
