Smoke from electrical cables at Inverness Castle sparked an emergency response.

Crews arrived to tackle the suspected fire in the building's basement this morning.

Services at the Sheriff Court were disrupted for a short while, but have now returned to normal.

It's not being treated as deliberate.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Spokesperson said: "Two appliances from Inverness were sent to the scene and were quickly able to locate a small amount of smoke coming from the basement area.

"Firefighters in breathing apparatus and carrying a hose reel jet entered the basement and located the source of the smoke, which was overheating electrical cables.

"Crews then spent time ventilating the building.

"They also used a thermal imaging camera to check for any signs of fire. The last appliance left the scene at 10.05am.

"No one was injured as a result."
