Missing Jason Gates' relatives told about discovery of body at Drumnadrochit

Police searching for a man missing for more than seven weeks have found a body.

The body is still to be formally identified but Jason Gates's relatives have been informed about the discovery, which was made in the Drumnadrochit area on Tuesday afternoon.

The 36-year-old from the Portsmouth area was last seen in Drumnadrochit, near Loch Ness, on Monday March 14th.

He was reported missing three days later, sparking a series of searches to try and locate him.

His relatives have previously expressed their gratitude to the members of the emergency services and search and rescue personnel who kept up the search for Mr Gates.

Police Scotland said: "As part of the ongoing search effort for missing man Jason Gates, police officers discovered a man's body in the Drumnadrochit area this afternoon"

"Formal identification is taking place and Mr Gates's family have been informed"

Police Officers also thanked members of the public for their help with the search.
