Police say Lossiemouth house fire death isn't suspicious

An investigation has been launched after a person was found dead following a house fire in Lossiemouth.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at a property on Elgin Road at around 4.10pm on Wednesday.

Fire crews successfully extinguished the fire but one person was found dead at the scene.

Police said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and no information about the deceased would be released until next of kin had been informed.

There were no other injuries.

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will carry out a joint investigation into the incident on Thursday.

The A941 Elgin Road was closed between Inchbroom Road and Coulardbank Road while emergency teams dealt with the fire.
