Hit & run: man detained by Inverness police

Crash investigators have detained a man after an Inverness boy was seriously hurt in a hit and run last night.

The four year old suffered a serious head injury and damaged pelvis, but medics at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary say they're not life-threatening.

A 33-year-old man is said to be helping police with their enquiries.

Michelle Gunn is the aunt of the boy whose name is Jacob. She told MFR News: "His parents are in absolute devastation - shocked.ttps://twitter.com/MFRNews

"My brother has had no sleep all night.

"As a family we will be sitting beside him.

"We will stick together and help him through this.

"From his pelvis down is very much damaged, and he has a head injury at the moment.

"He was unconscious when he was taken to Raigmore Hospital last night.

"He was flown earlier today by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

"He is on a lot of pain relief at the moment, but in a stable condition.

Anyone who saw a black Ford Focus on Springfield Gardens should contact Police Scotland.
