Police investigating the assault and robbery of a woman in Inverness last week have released details of a man they want to speak to.

It is said to have happened near the church in the Dalneigh area of the city on Wednesday March 29, between 5pm and 6pm.

The 30-year-old woman needed hospital treatment for a minor injury following the attack, which also saw her robbed of a 'mid two figure' sum of cash.

She was wearing a red jacket and dark jeans, while the man police are looking for is described as being in his forties, about 5'5" tall, slim build with short dark hair, wearing a light grey top.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Sophia Ross said: "We understand that there would have been people in the area at the time who would have witnessed the incident.

"I would therefore ask if anyone remembers seeing an incident in the area last Wednesday, involving a female as described, to contact us with any information they have."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference number NN/7639/17 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 should they wish to remain anonymous.
