Investigations are ongoing after a man was spotted approaching children in an Inverness neighbourhood.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the man in Dalneigh yesterday afternoon.

The suspect is described as being aged between 20 and 40 and of slim build.

He is also understood to have been wearing dark trousers and a black jacket at the time of the incident.

The man was last seen on a footpath near the Dalneigh playing field.

It comes after a witness appeal last week, for a man with a scar who was approaching children in the same area.

Detective Inspector Caroline Mackay from the Public Protection Unit says additional patrols are ongoing in Dalneigh.

She said: "We understand incidents like this are concerning to the local community and officers are working to trace the man involved.

"I would ask anyone who may have seen this man on Monday afternoon or anyone with relevant dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell camera footage to get in touch.

"Additional patrols are ongoing in the area to offer reassurance to the local community. Anyone with concerns can approach these officers."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2176 of 18 April, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
