A defibrillator funded by a life-saving charity has been stolen from Buckie.

The vital equipment, donated by Keiran's Legacy, was taken from outside Anderson Butchers, West Church Street.

Officers say the theft took place overnight between Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Sergeant Graeme Allan said: "This is an abhorrent crime of an item that could possibly be used to save a person’s life."

Keiran's Legacy was set up in memory of 16-year-old Keiran McKandie, from Elgin, who died after his bike was hit by a car in 2016.

His parents, Sandra and Gordon, have since raised thousands to fund defibs across the North and North East of Scotland.

Anyone with any information about this week's incident is encouraged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0418 of 12/12/2024.
