A person has died after being struck by a train in Easter Ross.
Emergency services were called to Alness railway station last night at 7:43pm after reports of a casualty on the tracks.
The British Transport Police say the person involved was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Alness railway station at 7.43pm on 29 March following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and file will be prepared for the procurator fiscal."
