Passengers hurt after bus hits Highland bridge

There’s been a serious crash involving a bus in the Highlands.
Just before 6.00pm, emergency services were called to Munlochy, where a Stagecoach service between Inverness and Cromarty had hit a bridge.
A Stagecoach North Scotland spokesman said: “We can confirm there has been a serious road accident on the Black Isle in the Munlochy area involving one of our services operating between Inverness and Cromarty.
“Emergency services are at the scene of the accident. Our first thoughts are for those affected and their families.
“Safety is our absolute priority and we are supporting the police and the emergency services in any way that we can, including helping establish the circumstances involved.”
Police have confirmed that the situation is serious, and they're on the scene.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said:
"A single decker bus collided with the bridge resulting in the bus landing on its side.
"The road is currently closed in both directions and diversions are in place.
"A number of injured people have been conveyed to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness but no further details are being released at this time.
"Any concerned relatives seeking more information or members of the public who witnessed the accident are asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 2792 of the 11th January 2019."

Meanwhile the fire service have given us a little more detail on the situation.
A spokesperson has confirmed one person had to be freed by crews working from a heavy rescue unit.
They were passed to the care of the ambulance service.
Five more people also had to be helped out by firefighters.
Crews remain at the scene.
