One man seriously injured after disturbance in Caithness

Police were called to a disturbance in Castletown in the early hours of Wednesday 16 January 2019.

A 33 year old man was taken to hospital after police were called to a disturbance in a property on Harland Road in Castletown around 1.55am.

Officers have arrested a 36 year old man in connection with the incident.

The injured man is believed to be in a serious but non-life threatening condition in Caithness General Hospital.

Detective Inspector Richard Baird said: "Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and at an early stage.

"However, we have established that this was a contained incident and there is not believed to have been any risk to the wider public.

"A police presence will be maintained in the area for the time being as enquiries continue and we are grateful to the local community for their understanding.''
