Officers are asking for your help in stopping criminal activity during COP26 in Glasgow next month.

They’ll be deploying the policing tactic - Project Servator which is designed to stop terror related incidents.

Chief Superintendent Mark Hargreaves said: "We want to provide a reassuring presence to members of the public.

"There will be lots of high visibility police officers providing that level of security that the public would expect to see during this event.

"Project Servator Officers have a certain type of training which means they are looking for behaviour which looks out of place or suspicious.

"We think this level of preparedness is necessary before the conference because of the scale of the event, but I should add that there is no specific intelligence of any threat to the public."

People living across the city and business owners are being encouraged to work with the police and alert them to anything unusual.

He added: "I would encourage the public to maintain a certain level of vigilance because people could be a massive help to the Project Servator movement.

"They are our eyes and ears and just because officers are trained in noticing certain behaviours that doesn't mean we don't want to hear from people who think something is an emergency."
