Pupils at a Highland school have won a top renewable energy prize.

Daviot Primary impressed judges with their floating Wave Energy Converter, using wave power to create electricity.

More than 200 teams from across Scotland entered the competition for the Junior Saltire Award.

Team member Evie Delves said: “We tried out some different ideas before coming up with a design using a pendulum that moves with the waves, and it worked quite well so we decided to build it full-size.

“It worked the way we expected when we built it, and seeing how it worked at FloWave was great fun.”
