North lads' bikes stolen after cancer charity cycle
"Sickening" thief steals bikes after cancer charity cycle
Three lads from the North have had their bikes stolen after cycling 150-miles to fundraise for a cancer charity. James Mackie - who's from Inverness - and his pals raised almost £5,000 for the Men United prostate cancer event.
But after the cycle from Essex to Amsterdam and back - with some help from the ferry - their padlocked bikes were pinched on their way back from London to Scotland.
The trio, who became friends after meeting in Aberdeen, say their "sickened" by Sunday's theft.
An online giving page has been set up to help the guys replace their bikes which are not covered by their insurance policies.
James told MFR News: "It was really disappointing to see that our bikes had disappeared.
"It felt even worse the fact that we raised this much money for a charity that is so close to our hearts.
"We've all got family members who've suffered with cancer.
"We're all really disappointed; really quite angry that someone would go so low as to break through metal to steal our bikes.
"The bikes cost £600-£1000 each."
