23 branches ear-marked for closure across the country

The Bank of Scotland are to close 23 branches as part of the Lloyds Banking Group three-year strategy.

It was back in 2014 they launched this move to re-shape the business and today the announcement comes that of those changes, three branches of the Bank of Scotland will shut in Moray - at Cullen, Fochabers and Aberlour.

In Banff, Portsoy, and Macduff are among the closures.

A further three will close in the Highlands, including Drumnadrochit.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: "In most cases, this is as a result of falling customer demand while in others it is because of overlaps with other nearby branches"

Bank of Scotland point out that there are no plans for redundancies and staff will be offered re-deployment at other Bank of Scotland branches - although this may naturally prove difficult in parts of Moray and rural Aberdeenshire.
