Newborn death investigated in Inverness

Three-week-old baby girl lived in the Hilton area of the Highland capital.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a three-week-old baby girl from the Hilton area of Inverness.

The newborn was taken from Mackay Road to Raigmore Hospital but sadly died on the afternoon of Thursday, June 8th.

The baby's death is currently being treated by the police as unexplained, and enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Brian Geddes told MFR News: "This is a tragic incident and we are carrying out a full investigation in order to establish the full circumstances.

"There will be a police presence in the area as officers carry out their enquiries.
