New Lachlan Simpson Images Released In Missing Inquiry

Published 5th Aug 2015

The family of a Highland man missing for more than a week have released new pictures of him in an attempt to help the ongoing police search.

Lachlan Simpson, 22, was last seen leaving the Sutherland Show dance in Dornoch in the early hours of Sunday July 26.

Dozens of volunteers have joined police teams every day in the search for Mr Simpson, who is from the nearby village of Embo.

His family, who thanked the public for their support last week, have now released new images of Mr Simpson in the hope that someone will remember a recent sighting.

Police have also released a photo of a rucksack which was similar to the one used by the 22-year-old.

Police dogs, the coastguard and an RAF mountain rescue team have all been assisting the hunt.

Officers are also asking local businesses and home owners to check outbuildings, sheds, gardens and garages for the bag, in case it has been misplaced or lost at some point.

Inspector Jamie Wilson said: "We continue to see great support from the local community and once again, we must say thank you to those who have and continue to assist us.

"Specialist search team resources from Aberdeen have recently travelled to the area and are now working alongside ourselves.

"This Friday there will be a mobile police office at the Dornoch Highland Gathering which takes place at The Meadows Park.

"If anyone has any information regarding the search, no matter how insignificant they may feel it to be, they can speak to an officer who will be there to provide assistance.''

Mr Simpson is described as 6ft, of slim/medium build and has short fair hair.

He was wearing a green and white top when he was last seen.
