Passengers flying from Inverness will soon be able to reach the Far East quicker thanks to a new codeshare agreement.

Flybe is working with Cathay Pacific, connecting the Highland Capital to China, via Manchester.

Travellers will be able to book their journeys on the Hong Kong carrier's website.

The routes will become available on December 8th.

It's hoped the new connection will boost business and tourism links with Asia.

Inglis Lyon, Managing Director of Inverness Airport operator HIAL, said: “With airports in the south-east of England increasingly congested, Manchester is emerging as an important alternative hub for regions like the Highlands, with destinations across North America, the Gulf and the Far East now available from Inverness with just one stop.

"This latest codeshare agreement between Flybe and Cathay Pacific, recently voted the world’s best airline, will enable Highland air passengers to fly seamlessly from Inverness to Hong Kong, one of the most exciting cities in the Far East and an important business and tourism centre.”
