Nairn Man In Court After Homeless Burn Attack
Jordan Jeans is accused of seriously assaulting James Shaw and another man in Nairn last week.
A 25 year old man was remanded in custody after appearing in private at Inverness Sheriff Court in connection with an incident which left a homeless man with serious burns.
Jordan Jeans from Nairn appeared on one charge of assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement of a man in Nairn on February 10.
He also faced a second charge of assaulting a second man in Nairn to his severe injury on the day before on February 9.
Jeans made no plea or declaration, was committed for further examination and bail was refused by Sheriff Derek Livingston.
James Shaw, 34, suffered severe burns to his legs in the Tower Court area of Nairn on the night of Tuesday, February 10.
Police confirmed that they detained a man in his 20s in connection with what they described as a “serious assault”.
Mr Shaw was initially taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness before being transferred to the specialist serious burns unit at St John’s Hospital in Livingston.
His condition is believed to be stable.
Mr Shaw is unemployed and had recently moved into a room at Nairn’sStar Hostel, although he still sometimes slept rough in the town.
It is understood that he originally comes from Fife and has family in Glenrothes.
One of his regular haunts was the United Reform Church in the town’s King Street.
