Murder probe in Elgin launched after death of mum of two
The victim's been named as Lucretia or Kiesha Donaghy
Detectives have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a 32-year-old woman in Elgin.
Officers were called to a property in Anderson Drive around 7.20pm on Thursday. Emergency services attended, and a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following a post mortem examination, her death is being treated as murder and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
The investigation is being led by detectives from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team.
Officers have made a renewed appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to please come forward.
Police say the death of mum-of-two Kiesha Donaghy, has had a significant impact on her family with officers providing them with specialist support as their investigation continues.
Detective Superintendent Lorna Ferguson said: “It’s imperative we find out exactly what happened to her and we have a dedicated team of officers working on this investigation. I would like to reassure the local community that everything is being done to trace the person responsible and extensive enquiries remain ongoing.
“Incidents such as this are thankfully extremely rare and we understand that Kiesha’s death has had a significant impact on the local community in Elgin and across Moray.
“I am appealing to the public for help. I'm urging anyone who was in the area between 4.30pm on Wednesday, 15 November, 2023 and 7.20pm on Thursday, 16 November, 2023, and saw anything they believe may assist our investigation to get in touch.
Increased police presence
"It may seem small or insignificant but it could be vital to help us establish what happened to and give family the answers they deserve.
"We are also keen to speak to anyone who has dash cam footage, private CCTV or doorbell footage.
"There will be an increased police presence in the local area while we carry out extensive enquiries. Anyone with information or concerns can also speak to these officers."
