An Edinburgh mum has turned to Facebook to try and find a mystery Good Samaritan, who paid her parking fine, while she was in hospital with her ill son.

Mairi Holden was in Edinburgh's Sick Kids Hospital with her child on Wednesday - and when she returned to her pink Honda Jazz car she found it had been hit with a parking ticket.

But she also noticed that someone had left £25 wrapped in an anonymous, hand written note.

It read: "Pay it, then forget it happened!"

Mairi then posted a picture of the fine, cash and note on social media, in a bid to find the mystery donor.

She wrote: "Would love to find out who did this! I'm still in a lovely feeling of shock.

"Please share - maybe I'll be able to get in touch with this beautiful person.

"Oscar had to stay in (the) Sick Kids Hospital, Edinburgh last night, which was really unexpected (he's all good now)

"Parked outside, not thinking we'd be kept in - same out to two parking tickets this afternoon. Some amazing person, don't know who, left this note and money tucked under one of the tickets.

"I'm still overwhelmed at the kindness of it. I'll never forget it and if anyone has any idea who it could have been, or recognises the writing or note paper please let me know."

The post's now gone viral.
