There's an appeal for witnesses after a fatal crash close to Loch Crochach west of Bettyhill.

It happened around 17:40 on Friday evening and involved a black Yamaha motorcycle, a blue Fiat Doblo and a blue Vauxhall.

The 63-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced at the scene.

His passenger, a 56-year-old woman, was airlifted to Raigmore where her injuries are described as serious.

The driver of the van and the three people travelling in the car were not injured.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow inquiries to be carried out, and re-opened just after midnight following the recovery of all the vehicles.

Dingwall Road Policing Sergeant Christopher Donaldson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time.

“Our investigation continues and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dash cam footage, to please get in touch."
