Motorcyclist left with life threatening injuries after far north crash

A 39-year-old was taken to Caithness General Hospital before being transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary

A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a crash in Caithness.

Emergency services were called following a collision between a motorcycle and a car yesterday afternoon on the A836 near Castletown.

The 39-year-old was rushed to Caithness General Hospital before being transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with what Police say are "life-threatening injuries."

The driver and passengers of a Skoda Karoq were uninjured.

Police appeal

The road was closed for around eight hours for crash investigation and recovery of the vehicles.

Police Scotland say investigations are ongoing to find out exactly what happened.

Sergeant Ewan Calder of North Road Policing said: "At this time, we are continuing with enquiries to establish the full circumstances.

"We would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage that may help with our enquiries to get in touch."
