Miracle on mountain as missing couple & dog found alive
Trio survive night of hellish Highland weather stuck on mountain
Caringorm rescuers are celebrating a miracle on the mountain after a missing couple and their dog were found alive earlier.
The 59 and 56-year-old man and woman were visiting the Glenmore area from England, but hadn't been seen since yesterday afternoon.
Simon Steer is from the local mountain rescue team which searched frantically overnight for the trio who've survived so-called "savage weather" conditions.
He told MFR News: "We found them on the south side of Cairngorm still on the very high ground.
"We believe that they probably became misplaced at about 3.30 in the afternoon, until nearly midday today - battling the elements; trying to look after themselves in some pretty savage weather."
After an initial attempt to trace the three overnight failed, Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team were joined by rescuers from the RAF, and Braemar Mountain Rescue Team, who were supported by a Coastguard search and rescue helicopter.
