A celebratory assembly has been held at Millbank Primary with the ribbon was cut on its £4.6 million refurbishment.

A new modular extension has been added to the building, creating four additional classrooms. New boilers, doors and improved insulation were all installed to improve the efficiency of the buildings, as well as full rewiring, re-plumbing, new and upgraded roofing.

Speaking at the opening, Convener of Moray Council, Cllr James Allan, thanked staff for continuing to work through the major rebuilding programme.

“Inside the school the transformation is obvious and as you approach the building the outside cladding brightens up the surrounding area, making the school a special feature and central to Buckie East"

“The Millbank community now has a school fit for the future. This is our vision for all children in Moray as we work hard to provide similar quality learning environments for all of our children and young people.”

Cllr Tim Eagle, Chair of Moray Council’s Children and Young People’s Services Committee, said the school now offers better spaces for the children to learn in, and for the staff to teach.

“As well as this investment in the school for the benefit of the children who attend Millbank now and in the future, we’re also investing in the teaching profession here in Moray by creating modern work spaces for teaching in the 21st century"
