Milan Lalkovic is hoping it's second-time lucky at Ross County having come close to a move north in the Summer.

The Slovakian winger has moved on loan until the end of the season from Portsmouth to County "It came about really quickly as I'd asked about going out on loan from Portsmouth and I already knew about Ross County's interest from the Summer - and came very close to signing"

"I was even meant to play for Pompey on last Saturday, but picked up an ankle injury, however then five days later I'm going to training and I get a phonecall saying there's a flight up to Inverness"

"So it all happened very quickly, I came home, packed, set off north - it was mad - and then the gaffer picked me up from the airport"

This marks Milan's fifth spell on loan having had time at Den Haag and Guimaraes, after a spell in the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge "I'd previously been in the Netherlands and in Portugal on loan. In fairness, I was a bit head-up-in-the-air in Portugal, just 19-years-old, living by myself and I cut the loan after 6 months when I should stuck it out for the year"

Milan's still hopeful of returning to football South of the Border "I still have one year left with Portsmouth and I hope we go up to League One, but it's not in my hands at the moment, I just have to work hard to get myself in the team here first"

"I've previously played with Scott Sinclair at Chelsea and Brendan Rodgers took the reserve team. He's different class, and I'm not surprised with what he's achieved at Liverpool and Celtic"

But for now, the 24-year-old winger's settled in well to life at the Global Energy Stadium, "I also know Martin Woods from my time at Doncaster and there have been a few others I've played against when I was down in England"
