A memorial stone has been laid to honour two PCs killed on active duty - it is the 39th stone unveiled by the Police Memorial Trust.

Situated at the Hub in Mottram it is dedicated to PC Fiona Bone and PC Nicola Hughes, who were brutally murdered there.

On the 18th of September 2012, the two PCs responded to what they believed was a routine burglary in Hattersley, but it was a trap set-up by Dale Cregan.

Cregan, wanted by Police, shot the two repeatedly, before throwing a grenade and running away.

Norwich-born PC Bone was brought up in Moray, attending Hopeman Primary, before going to Lossiemouth High.

She was laid to rest at Clovenside Cemetery, Forres.

The officers are the 46th and 47th officer killed in the line of duty to be honoured by the Police Memorial Trust.

The first memorial was dedicated to PC Yvonne Fletcher in St James' Square.
